Oldie for Friday............................

very early today and not scheduled as I am off to a project day today the first for ages.......................it is over three days and I am fortunate to live near enough to travel each day but it is an early start as we have to register at 8.30am today.............................

anyway here is a project I made in a previous class I used to attend......................

sorry about the picture quality but I always take them on my phone and this has a coating of melted bees wax and I think this may be the reason it has the 'hazy' look.......................

we stamped our images onto tissue paper and used melted bees wax through stencils to create the background...............................

this is the back of the bird house with the sentiment which again I apologise for as the photo quality is not very good........................

Unfortunately I can't take the photo again at the moment as most of my craft stuff is packed into boxes as we just had all the ceilings upstairs flat plastered - so we are in a bit of a muddle but it will all be worthwhile (at least I keep telling myself that)..................I will take some better photos when I am sorted out as I want to show you the roof too.....................but that photo definitely wasn't worth posting....................

Again I have to give credit to the amazingly talented Julie Atkinson whose class it was I made this project in...............

Have a lovely day, whatever you are doing.

Oldie for Friday.................................

this is a card, made again at the project class I used to attend........................

using the resist technique, which I love but rarely use......................

done with Versamark and white embossing powder and inked with DI and splattered with water, then gentle inked over again.....................

I love this sentiment, but unfortunately because I used it in class I don't know the maker..................if anyone out there does, please let me know.....................

Like I say, I love this technique and it easy but so effective and sometimes we need a gentle reminder as to what we have done previously and use our learned techniques on a more regular basis.............

what is the saying 'use it or lose it'.........................that definitely applies to me!!!

I am scheduling this on Thursday, for Friday as I am off work and have a little more time on my hands - just keeping everything crossed it works this time......................

Friday 3 April 2015

Oldie for Friday.............................

a little bit late......................

Patricia I think that time thief is travelling up and down the country as I really do not know where last week went too...............I know I worked my extra hours for the first time and covered a morning due to illness but.................puff if just seemed to disappear................

anyway here is my offering for oldie Friday.............I haven't done this for a while as I had shown (or I think I have) all the old cards I have made over the last few years but I did use to attend a project class where we learnt all different techniques (this is where my love of 'messy' crafting started) and I do have all these on display in my craft room so I thought I would take some piccys and share with you...................

Not sure if I have shown this one before but if I have I do apologise......................

the completed box which is made from chipboard and had to be assembled.................

the view looking down onto the top of the box.................

the bottom two are drawers but the top is a lift up section although when closed it looks like three drawers...................

a little clearer in this photo...................

the knobs where not supplied in the class and these were added on when we got our projects home.........I also lined the inside with some co-ordinating paper that I had in my stash at home..............

now I did have a before and after photo of this knob (which is just from our local Wilkos) originally it was a bright, shiny gold colour but after using alcohol inks and wax this is how it turned out...........

The reason I haven't really shown my projects from classes before is because although I made them, they are not my ideas................................but you do personalise your projects ie you may change the colour way (which I did on this box) and also the bits and bobs you add and the stencilling etc are down to your choice with what is available on the day at the project class - so everyone tends to come up with something slightly different..................

The ideas for all projects I have made and will show at some point are from a very talented lady called Julie Atkinson and the ideas and techniques I have learnt from this person are second to none..........and the inking and waxing of the knobs for the front of the drawers although done at home I would never have known where to start before I attended her classes.

I hope you like and sorry if I have rambled a bit................

I will be posting an Easter card on Sunday so I will extend my Easter wishes to you all then, but in the meantime have a lovely weekend whatever you are up to.

PS Diane thank you so much for visiting and leaving a lovely comment - the amount of comments seem to be going up (slowly but surely) and you don't know how chuffed I am with that. Also to get a comment from another blogger from across the pond just absolutely thrills me to bits!!
