Not an oldie unfortunately..........................

but tried to make a card that looked old!!!  Not sure if I really succeeded but here is my offering................

It was a friends - sons 21st birthday last week and I do struggle (like many others) to come up with ideas for male cards but I do usually use the same colour combo........................

I used the cardboard numbers from my stash which I coloured with distress stains in black and metallic and gradually built up the colour and effect I wanted.......................

this is one of the clay crowns I made and showed a few posts ago which I coloured with distress stains to try and get an old distressed look......................

Words cut from Kraft card using Tattered Lace Retro Alphabet dies and keys are from my stash............

the 'scroll' was cut from parchment paper and distressed with Brushed Corduroy DI and cut with Sizzix Parchment die...............

the background script card is from a 6x6 card pad which doesn't have a name on it......sorry!!

The finished article............................

The card blank is an 8x8 Kraft card which was embossed with SW basket weave emboss folder and the frame is CE black card from the foundations card pack which has been cut and embossed with SB Grand Squares.

Not really sure it was the outcome I was looking for but at least it is a very personalised card.

Thanks for 'popping' by.

New Card.................................

I have been posting 'old' cards or cards make with old dies for the last few posts - but I made this card for my sisters birthday which was at the end of May and decided it was time for its 'airing'.................

although as you can see there are a few 'older' dies that have been used on this card too!!...........

I have used quite a lot of 'experimental' pieces that I had in my 'lots' box, such as the flowers, leaves  and sentiment background, which were cut from card that I had stamped with a background stamp for a project and then decided I didn't like it.................................the peacock coloured frame was another experiment which didn't work out at the time but I decided to run it through the
M-bossabilities Dainty Dots folder and inked again over the top with DI.  The panel behind the sentiment is yet again another piece which I had embossed with a Special Touch Chicken Wire mask but the emboss wasn't deep enough for what I wanted - but managed to utilise it on this card......................

You would think with how much I had used from my box for this card it would be going down but for some reason it just seems to multiply (not sure what goes off in my craft room when I am not around)!!!!!

The rest of the ingredients are:-

SB A2 Filigree Delight for sentiment
Personal Impressions 'Happy Birthday' stamp
Justrite 'Sister' stamp
Crafters Companion Regency Swirls emboss folder for card blank
SB Bitty Blossoms for flowers
Brittania Rose Leaf for foliage
White Tuille/Bakers Twine/Teal Dazzler and pearls from stash

I know my sister was 'chuffed' with it........................so that's all that really matters.

Have a fab weekend and hopefully the weather will stay as nice for everyone as it is here

Old card and die day..............................Friday (pt 3)

............................I had to check back through my posts to make sure that I hadn't posted this already!!

I am pretty sure that I haven't so here goes................................

this was a card make at the last minute for friends of ours who invited us out for an Anniversary meal with them last year (May 2013) they have celebrated another one since this card!!

I had already cut the flowers as a practice run so I just assembled them and added pearls to the centres.

The card is is Centura Pearl card, as are the flowers but the SB die cut is CE card so I could stamp the sentiment onto it.

The emboss folder is a Crafters Companion one and I just scored the bottom of the card and used a punch to make the faux ribbon to hide the join (think it is a Martha Stewart punch).

A quick post as I have been out of the house most of the day - working/shopping etc and expecting company shortly but didn't want to miss out on the Friday - old die/card day.

This will probably be the last one, as I now struggling to find a decent photo of any of the older cards that I have made and a lot of them I didn't even photograph.

Thank you for 'popping' by and taking the time to look/comment.

Also a thank you to Rebecca who has become my latest follower - I have only just noticed so not sure when you joined, but thank you for doing so and hopefully you will like what you see.

Have a fab weekend and hopefully the weather will stay kind to us all.

Old card, old die day..........................Friday pt 2........

Good morning to everyone who takes the time to visit my blog - it is much appreciated whether you have the time to leave a comment or not - Thank you...............

Here is my latest offering..........................

this is a card I made for a couple of special friends who got married last August................

the colour scheme for the wedding was black, white and red (for the local football team that they both support)!!.................................unfortunately it is the wrong side of the city for us and we as a family support the blue and white version so when ever I showed hubby my offerings he would scoff a little at the colour combo - but like I said it was there choice...........................

this is the box I made for their card and managed to get some red into the decoration.........................

the box I made for their 'lucky horseshoe'..............................

the 'lucky horseshoe' that I painted and decorated.............................

the back of the horseshoe with their personal details............................

I hope you like....................I don't have the details of what I used because when I made these I didn't think I would be putting them on a blog..........................I am little more organised now and as I make anything I write down what I have used, but I think most of the dies for the card are probably self-explanatory to most crafters, if anyone wants more details let me know and I will dig them out and let you know...............................don't have the time this morning because I am now off to work................

Hope you all have a lovely day and the weather is a nice where you are as it is here.
