Charity walk.....................................

here are some of the photos from the charity walk we did for our local hospice......................

this one is a little bit scary..........................

this is a dual carriage way that was shut down from 10pm until we all finished the walk................I drove down it the following day which was a little surreal!!

we were all issued with flashing bunny ears and this is the effect....................
unfortunately because the photos were taken on my phone it doesn't really do it justice..............

at this point we walking down the slip road from the dual carriageway and then under a bridge and the traffic were all honking their horns and shouting encouragement...................
If I'm honest it was quite emotional!!

Sorry it is a little photo heavy!!

We have now raised £1079.08 as a team which we named ourselves 'Practice make Perfect'

Now just as a bit of fun I thought I would see if you can guess who I am in the photos!!
I am pretty sure that none of you have actually seen a photo of me as I don't really like having my photo taken!!!!! I will put all the correct entries in a hat/bowl from your comments and the winner will be picked out by my OH and receive a Spellbinders die set (okay it will be second hand) I do have a few that I have never used (only to test cut) so I will find one out from my crafty stash and send it out to the winner!! How does that sound??

I hope you are still with me and not keeled over, but wanted to share with you all, the wonderful evening that we had and the camaraderie that took place, even the pubs en-route let anyone in to use the facilities and even closed the male toilets so the women could use them.....................amazing how people pull together for such a good cause..................

Anyway I will bore you no more...............just going to watch the end of the women's doubles...................what an amazing women's singles and hope it is not the last we see of Garbine!

I will hopefully be back tomorrow with a 'proper' post.............

enjoy the rest of the weekend.........

Back with a CAS.............................

wow guys it is only when I have just checked into my account that I realise how long I have actually been missing..............................

First of all I apologise for that and also for lack of commenting on your posts which I will hopefully catch up with over the weekend (or tomorrow) as we are going to a barbeque tonight at 5pm and I have the unfortunate task of doing some supermarket shopping before we go.................

anyway here goes, a CAS card made for a work colleague........................

this is an unusual style of card for me, but I had this vision in my head and it turned out how I wanted, which is always a bit of a bonus.....................

love this die and hopefully I will use it a lot in the future......................

love the cloud die too (bought from Joanna Sheen at a reduced price) which I am sure I will use a lot in the future................................

Ingredients used:-

SW Finishing Touches - Dandelion Clocks
MB Cloud Bank Die
Sheena Douglass Festive EF (used to emboss the back card)
LOTV Sentiment Stamp

A quick card to make if you are in a rush!!

Have a wonderful weekend whatever you are doing.

xxGailxx

PS I am hoping to post some photos of the Night Sparkle Walk I did a few weeks ago for our local hospice - up to now they have had £127,000 pledged which is an amazing amount and as a small practice between us we managed to raise approx. £800/900 - makes the sore knees, feet and back worth it.

Just sneaking in with Oldie for Friday......................

an apron made in the project class I used to attend..............................

just a waist band 'pinny' not the full monty like granny used to wear.....................

some stitching and some stamping......................

finished this part (the waistband) at home...........................

I was always one of the slowest in the class.............................

the stitching down each side of the apron.......................

I actually loved making this, partly because it was something that I would never have attempted at home and also because I hadn't made anything using a sewing machine for more years that I care to remember..................

Something a little different and again down to the expert tuition of Julie Atkinson who used to test us, as a class on a regular basis and we always rose to the challenge even when initially some of thought we can't possibly do this...................................

just shows!!

Wishing everyone a lovely weekend whatever you are up to.

Something a bit prettier..............................

I have recently been showing projects that I have made in classes from a few years ago and then some steam punky stuff which I know is not everyone's 'cup of tea' so here is something a little prettier..............

love this colour combo as it reminds me of summer................................

I was lucky enough to have a set of CE Dazzlers that matched the ink used perfectly..................

I love this Crealie die and have used it so much but typically it is one of the things I can't find in my boxed up crafty stuff!!....................

I have made this card in a variety of colours for different work colleagues and will show some more in the future...................

Ingredients used:-
for the aqua card

SW Rambling Blossom EF
Archival Ink in Aquamarine
Crealie Daisy Die
CE Dazzler
SW Delicate Fronds
SW Faux Quilled Leaves
SW Pine Bough
SB Back to Basics Tag Die
Whimsy Sentiment Stamp

I hope you like...................

Have a wonderful weekend whatever you are doing................

Something a bit different...........................

after showing some of the projects that I have made in class over the last few years - Oldie for Friday, I thought it was about time I showed you something newer...............
I feel that it has been a bit of a 'cop out' on my part showing all the older stuff, but as most of my crafty stash is still in boxes (do I really want to get it out and then pack it away again when we decorate)?? NO..........................
I know I have shown you something similar to this but I did adapt it slightly and this is the card I made for our Son in March this year....................

I stamped the card blank with Versamark and embossed with gold emboss powder for this one to make it a little different to the previous male ones I have made........................

I just love trying to match the cogs so they look as they interlock, it is quite therapeutic...............

Ingredients used:-

Indigo Blu 'Yorkshire Dales' Gilding Flakes
Crafters Workshop Mini Gears Mask
CE Micro Beads
Sam Poole - Steam Punk Dreams Stamp (background gears)
SB Sprightly Sprockets
Sheena Douglas Festive E/F (for texture on the cogs)
Inka Gold Wax
LOTV Sentiment Stamp
Justrite Family Stamp

I hope you like.............

I will be back with another Oldie for Friday (hopefully on Friday) lol.......................if you are a regular you will know what I mean.....................

A little late.....................

but at least it is on the right day............................

Another project made a few years ago in the project class I used to attend.....

a 4'x4' block of wood covered with craft metal which had been embossed and covered in black acrylic paint and then rubbed back to give an aged feel....................

the bottom panel was hammered at each corner from the reverse and then a cup shaped tool indented on the top to make it look like rivets......................(not a good explanation, sorry but don't actually know the name of the tools)....................................

the heart was placed so it angles away from the background and the wooden block was painted black to blend in...........................

various metal cogs and watch parts were used to decorate........................a really simple hanger to make and could be made in pretty colours too............

Well just getting over an infection to my larynx (the OH thought he was in seventh heaven)!! - there seems to be so many bugs going around at the moment, but then with the change in the weather I suppose it is not too surprising.........................I get in my car in the morning and have to crank the heater up to full pelt and then when I get in her to come home I have to put the air-con on!!!!  Anyway think the anti-biotics have just about cured it and my head feels relatively normal again and I can speak again......................YAY!!

Have a wonderful weekend whatever you are up too and to those under the weather I hope you feel better soon...........

Yet another oldie for Friday..........................

that is late......................

I do have a good excuse (honest)!!

these are actually made with beer mats.....................................I know who would have thought it!!!!

We stamped acetate with various stamps in Staz-On and the sentiment was cut into separate sections and inked around - I love this look.........................we used an eyelet setter (can't think of its name at the mo) but the one that was extremely popular several years ago......................and different alcohol inks......................

in its full glory..........................

I love how you can take something so simple and turn it into a lovely work of art!

Sorry about the photo quality but it was a little difficult due to the sheen from the acetate.......(my excuse)!!

This post is late as we were actually away on holiday last week, we had to do a little rejigging of dates due to the funeral of MIL but it all worked out....................

I picked up some kind of bug (possibly on the flight) and lost a full day in bed and felt a bit rubbish for the rest of the week but didn't really stop me doing things...........................anyway we landed back into Gatwick on Thursday and left the airport at 6pm and didn't arrive home until 11.45pm!!! and no we do not live in the outer Hebrides!!! the journey was horrendous.................anyway straight to bed after putting a load of washing in then work at 8am until 4.30pm so last night was washing and ironing and very late commenting on blogs!!!!

Anyway after a long winded excuse that is the reason that yet again, I am late with the Oldie Friday Post!!!! but hope you like it and again I must say that this was made in a project workshop a couple of years ago with Julie Atkinson who has provided me with lots of inspiration and I now look at everything differently and wonder mmmmm I wonder what I could do with that???

Have a lovely BH weekend and to all those who a little under the weather I wish you a speedy recovery......

Oldie for Friday.............

This is the card I made for our daughter a couple of years ago...........

I know that a few who have followed my blog from the beginning will possibly recognise this but I think I have a few newbies so this is for you................

I think you see where I got the inspiration for this card........

Well this is a short post for several reasons, one of which is I am posting from my IPad and I for one find it very frustrating to say the least...........and if I don't sign off now I think I may just end up throwing it across the room!!!!!!

Thanks for stopping by...........

Oldie for Friday..........................

late but at least on the right day this week...............................

Something a little different, again these were made at the project class I used to attend...................

notelets.........................although I have just noticed that the bottom right one should have been turned 90 degrees...................

the notelet holder was made so the notelets would fit in one side and the envelopes in the other.............

the front of the notelet holder.......................

I think this idea would make a lovely gift.

xxGailxx

Can I also just say a big thank you for all your lovely comments on my creations. as always they are much appreciated and like others have said before it makes this blogging lark all worthwhile, also all the lovely comments/thoughts on our recent bereavement, you are a really thoughtful bunch of folk  xx thank you xx

Another oldie for Friday......................

well another week has just gone and flown by......................

doesn't seem two minutes ago since I was scheduling last weeks Oldie for Friday.................

anyway here goes for this week............

like last week I must apologise for the quality of the photo...................I took a lot of my projects, photos at the same time so not sure why they are looking so hazy................

I made my version in 'pretty colours' rather than the really grungy colours that would perhaps be usually used in a project with cogs and wheels...................

a little bit pretty too with the flowers which were ink and splatted.....................love doing this, although preferably in the craft class rather than at home!!...............

It has a fully working clock mechanism and the watch face on top of the clock and the key on the side were inked, Versamarked and heat embossed three times and mica powders added to the hot Versamark so it would melt into the ink to give an aged look..................

the case of the clock was covered in texture paste to make it look old and the outer of the clock face is a spellbinders circle die (sorry don't know which one).............it also has some silver paint dry brushed onto the case but unfortunately is doesn't really show up that well on the photos................

I absolutely loved creating this and even more so because it actually works so not only decorative but functional too.....................and another shout out for Julie Atkinson who guided us through making this lovely creation.................

I hope you like it...............a little grungy but a little bit pretty too, so may appeal to those who don't 'do' grungy!!

Enjoy the Bank Holiday weekend whatever you are doing.

xxGailxx

Sorry this was scheduled to post @ 9am yesterday (user error I'm sure) but only just realised as unfortunately we have had some sad news - my MIL passed away in the early hours of 1st May, so I am playing catch up with everything at the moment so please bear with and I will be commenting on your posts hopefully later today or tomorrow but I will catch up, I promise xx

Oldie for Friday............................

very early today and not scheduled as I am off to a project day today the first for ages.......................it is over three days and I am fortunate to live near enough to travel each day but it is an early start as we have to register at 8.30am today.............................

anyway here is a project I made in a previous class I used to attend......................

sorry about the picture quality but I always take them on my phone and this has a coating of melted bees wax and I think this may be the reason it has the 'hazy' look.......................

we stamped our images onto tissue paper and used melted bees wax through stencils to create the background...............................

this is the back of the bird house with the sentiment which again I apologise for as the photo quality is not very good........................

Unfortunately I can't take the photo again at the moment as most of my craft stuff is packed into boxes as we just had all the ceilings upstairs flat plastered - so we are in a bit of a muddle but it will all be worthwhile (at least I keep telling myself that)..................I will take some better photos when I am sorted out as I want to show you the roof too.....................but that photo definitely wasn't worth posting....................

Again I have to give credit to the amazingly talented Julie Atkinson whose class it was I made this project in...............

Have a lovely day, whatever you are doing.
